Bach Meets Gubaidulina

In this unique concert program, the music of Johann Sebastian Bach meets the works of the composer Sofia Gubaidulina, who passed away in 2025 – two musical worlds that, at first glance, could not be more different, yet in the virtuosic interpretation of Pavel Efremov, they merge into a fascinating unity.

Efremov, renowned for his extraordinary technique and ability to deeply immerse himself in the structure and emotionality of Bach’s works, brings these pieces to life on his accordion in a new light.

The Tatar composer Sofia Asgatowna Gubaidulina, who passed away at the age of 93 in March this year, creates an exciting contrast to Bach with her highly intense, spiritual, and often deeply powerful compositions. Her music, frequently described as mystical and infused with unconventional harmonies, is interpreted by Efremov with the same dedication and musicality that distinguish her works.
