MUSICA VIVA – the festival where music comes alive

For over three decades, MUSICA VIVA has been setting musical masterpieces in motion – and with them people, spaces and moods in the Osnabrück region. In historic churches, atmospheric venues and unusual places in town and country, sound spaces are created that touch and connect. What once began with a vision and a great deal of idealism is now an internationally recognised festival – an annual fixture for music lovers, explorers and artists from all over the world.

In 2025, a new chapter begins: With Stephan Lutermann as the new Artistic Director, the festival opens up to fresh ideas – embracing bold formats, new perspectives, and genuine encounters. Musica Viva is a platform for artistic excellence and creative freedom, for striking contrasts and powerful musical experiences.
