The Grammy Award winning Estonian vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis opens the 36th edition of Musica Viva with an extraordinary programme. Gregorian chant, Guillaume de Machaut’s celebrated Messe de Notre Dame and Arvo Pärt’s meditative Missa syllabica come together in a captivating musical journey spanning seven centuries.

The Grammy Award winning Estonian vocal ensemble Vox Clamantis consists of twelve singers united by a shared passion for early polyphony and contemporary music. Founded in 1996 by conductor Jaan-Eik Tulve, the ensemble has earned widespread acclaim from both critics and audiences for its distinctive sound and deeply compelling interpretations.

The ensemble’s artistic vision is rooted in the tradition of early European music, while the performance of contemporary Baltic repertoire forms an equally important pillar of its work. Composers such as Arvo Pärt, Helena Tulve and Erkki-Sven Tüür have written and dedicated works to Vox Clamantis.
